#WomensHealth: Tips to stay Healthy, Fit and Strong via @Athletico
May was Woman’s Health Month and although it’s already June, I figure it’s never too late to talk about women’s health. Here are a few quick and easy tips for women courtesy of Athletico.
Posture Posture Posture
The best way to lose 5 pounds is to sit up straight ~ I know it sounds like a no brainer but if you stop what you’re doing for a monet and look at how you are standing, you’ll notice that for most of us, good posture doest come naturally. Slump shoulders means slumped abs and what’s worse is it causes stress on your back. So listen to your Grandmother and “sit up straight!”
Make Life a Ball (or at least sit on one)
Swap out a desk chair for an exercise ball. This is an old trick I learned when I was working at Leapfrog Toys. Sitting on an exercise ball is more fun and also forces you to use your core muscles to stabilize yourself and it also comes in handy when you want a good stretch (or a fun game of kickball).
Make Time For YOU!
Don’t underestimate the power of taking time for YOU! As they say every time you get on a plane, In case of emergency put the oxygen mask on yourself before assisting your kid. If you cant function, your kids won’t function so leave the guilt at the door and empower your children by showing them even moms need time for themselves too! And if you have time for a massage go for it! if you are local to Chicago Athletico offers a number of therapeutic massages to fit your every need. Short on money? Look around for a local massage therapy school where student often give massages as a way to “practice” their art which means the massage will be substantially less expensive or maybe even free! Good luck and Enjoy your Summer!
Note: Althetico sent me health tips, along with a cute water bottle and a gift certificate for a massage. Jackson co-opted the bottle, I used the tips and the gift certificate was tossed out accidentally. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own!
