The holidays are coming a little early this year, courtesy of the the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa.

You may remember I won a trip in June at a bloggy event hosted by my dear friend Alison Ray. Needless to say, I was elated! So, last week JRB and I embarked on an adventure to Miramar Beach in South Walton, Florida to cash in on our prize at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa. Knowing we were going to a Hilton, I expected it to be nice. What I didn’t expect was how  unbelievably incredible & exceptionally amazing the entire trip would be from the time we landed in Panama city to the time we departed 4 days later.

Let’s Start with the Rooms: Our room was HUGE with a stunning view of the WHITE SANDY BEACH. JRB and I arrived after dark, so we couldn’t see the beach but we could hear it! In fact, we left the balcony door open so we could hear the waves all night. The large room featured a king-size bed, a sleeper couch and a super cute bunk bed suite so parents and kids could have a little privacy and independence without being in separate rooms.

When we awoke in the morning we were starved, so we went to  Sandcastles for their breakfast buffet. Now here is where I turned into crazy blogger mom because the buffet was expansive with a make your own omelet station, fruit, yogurt, pastries and all the hot breakfast dishes you can think of (bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, oatmeal and grits with cheese). I took a bunch of pictures much to Jackson’s chagrin but really, when was the last time you saw really great buffet?

“Mom stop taking pictures of the buffet you are embarrassing me!”

Next up was miniature golf. That’s  right, there is a  putt-putt golf course on the resort property. This is course #17 in our quest to visit 50 miniature golf courses around the country, and it ranked rather high in both user friendliness and natural beauty.

After golf we had lunch on our balcony and then went out to play tennis. The property surrounding the resort is huge, so we decided to rent bikes and ride over to the courts (the hotel has a complimentary tram that will take you as well). JRB and I loved riding on the bike path, which had a rustic charm that was quite different than the modern, luxurious hotel. We also explored the bay which is just across the way from the beach. The tennis courts were in perfect shape and the folks in the clubhouse were super nice and accomodating. After tennis we headed back to the hotel.

By the time we got to our room, we were tired and ready for some downtime. The vacation gods at the Hilton must have known,  because soon room service arrived with a gorgeous tray of complimentary champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, milk and cookies.

We were sent afternoon goodies complimentary of the resort!

How could this vacation possibly get any better? Just wait we still have another day!

Day 2: The weather was perfect (75 degrees) so JRB and I decided to do a little beach combing. I love walking the beach with Jackson, especially this beach with it’s white sand and intriguing tide pools. Of course JRB was far more interested in finding shells, which true to form, he brought back to the room and turned into necklaces that he planned to sell to neighbors and friends in Chicago. Only JRB would turn a stroll along the beach into  business. After putting together a few necklaces we had lunch on our balcony and then headed over to play golf. We chose to play at Baytowne Golf Club, which is one of the resort’s 4 courses. The course was busy, but not too crowded and the shop had adult clubs to rent for $25 (Cheaper than if I brought my own). The starter was also super nice, especially when we asked not to be paired in a foursome because “we’re not that good.”

Driving the cart was almost as much fun as playing golf!

We ended the day at Serenity by the Sea, which is the resort’s first class spa. Although there were a multitude of services that intrigued me, I opted to for a pedicure while JRB got a foot massage for athletes. It was fun and relaxing and the spa technicians were incredibly lovely. By the time we were done, we were tired, so we ordered room service  (including more milk and cookies) and watched a movie in bed before calling it a night. I can’t imagine a better ending to this absolutely amazing vacation. Thank you Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa. We had the best time and will most definitely be back!
