Sounds like child’s play but taking deep breaths to alleviate stress isn’t always easy to implement. Sometimes people feel too wound up or busy to follow the sage advice. This assortment of stress busting gifts is sure to help get the deep breathing going and relaxation going:

  • Bubbles (with blow wand) — add essential oils for a little added aromatherapy
  • Harmonica or wooden recorder — include Stevie Wonder CD so mom can play along with one of the greats

Eye Mask

  1. Using an old silk scarf, fold in half and sew close three of the four openings so it resembled a silk tube.You can also use a strong silk sock if you prefer.
  2. Fill the eye mask with dry, uncooked rice mixed with a few drops of essential oil (lavender or verbena work well).
  3. Sew or insert Velcro tape to close the remaining opening. 

Neck Pillow

A neck pillow should be long enough to wrap around your shoulders and heavy enough to weigh your shoulders down slightly so they are not up by your ears.

  1. Fill an extra long sock with dry, uncooked rice mixed with a few drops of essential oil (lavender or verbena work well).
  2. Sew or insert Velcro tape to close the remaining opening.
