Friday Fun Chicago Style: One of a Kind Show at the Mart

This weekend in Chicago is the One of a Kind show at the Merchandies Mart.  The show runs through December 4 and features over 600 artists, craftspeople and designers  from around the country.  Anytime I can support creative people trying to make a living do the thing they love ~ I’m in!  If you don’t live in Chicago do not despair ~  I went shopping for you and found some of the cutest items that are fun, functional and MADE BY HAND IN THE U.S (yep that’s right I took one for the team 🙂  Here are some of my top picks…

The Pook Toque who thought wearing a sock on your head can be so fashionable? Be sure to check out their latest products The Hockey Sockey which includes a scarf made from hockey socks that even has a place to stow your cold beer!

Go Dotty Go is a company created by a a pair of serial crafters who loves felt, dots and colors.  The company makes the cutest coffee cardigans and key-hole scarves which are perfect teacher and coach gifts.  I mean who doesn’t need a cardigan for their coffee cup?

And finally there is Kate Grenier Designs who makes super sweet and silly bottle cap magnets.  They are clever, whimsical and remind me of my mom.  Best of all she brought an old fashioned refrigeratopr to showcase her wares!

So if you’re around this weekend, check out the show ~  Tickets are only $12 and a portion of all ticket sales will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital.  Have fun.  Shoestrings, Beth
