Fogo de Chao, Worth the Splurge in Rosemont
Let’s start with dessert. “Turtle Cheesecake” to be specific which was enormous and delicious and really the perfect ending to a perfect meal or as they say in Brazil “refeição perfeita.” The restaurant: Fogo de Chao. The location: Rosemont, IL (which is about 5 minutes from O’Hare and about 3 minutes from the brand new (and awesome) Fashion Outlets of Chicago. Jrb and I were guests at the restaurant thanks in large part of my friends at Chicagonista Live who invited me to luncheon and tour last Monday. At the luncheon, I was wowed by the food (especially the HUGE salad bar) and was over the moon when I discovered I won a $50 gift certificate to the new restaurant. I have known about the Fogo de Chao brand for a while. Several friends of mine who live in the city have told me their families adore the restaurant because of the excellent table-side service (Gauchos come to your table to serve you various meaty entrees), the delicious food (16 different cuts of meat expertly grilled and seasoned) and expansive salad bar. Overall Jrb and I give the restaurant two thumbs up. The food was great and the service was awesome and although I didn’t drink, I know wine lovers will be happy with Fogo’s exceptional wine list. It’s a bit pricey ($22 -$49) / per person but kids under 6 eat for free and kids up to 13 get 1/2 priced meals, which helps when it comes to paying the bill. So if you’re looking for a place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or special event Fogo de Chao is a great choice. And don’t forget the cheesecake!
