Theatre in Chicago is live and in spectacular form with 2  phenomenal new productions.

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

The  Drury Lane Theatre in Oak Brook is home to Mel Brooks’s Broadway hit YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN which runs until March 16. Fans of the the critically-acclaimed and hilarious film will not be disappointed as the delightful gang (Frederick Frankenstein, Igor, Inga, & Elizabeth) are back and in fine form singing, dancing and cracking wise with double, triple and quadruple entendres! The play was nominated for 3 Tony Awards in 2008 as well as a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. I found it to be a fun-filled, madcap production that is pure joy.  So if you live near Chicago “put on the ritz” and buy tickets via the Drury Lane Theatre box office (630.530.0111)  or visit Drurylane.com.

75.asset.0 CABARET

Marriott Theatre’s 2014 season kicks off with Kander and Ebb’s legendary musical, Cabaret! The play depicts the splendor, artistry  and uncertainty of 1929 Berlin.  The classic score includes “Maybe This Time”, “Money”, and my personal favorite, “Cabaret.”  The show is timeless and this version soars to new heights with a talented cast that includes Megan Sikora as Sally Bowles (I’ve never seen someone kick so high!) , Patrick Sarb as Clifford Bradshaw, and Stephen Schellhardt as the amoral Emcee.  The show is performed at Marriott’s theatre in the round which guarantees that everyone has a great seat. So call your “chums” and make a date to see Cabaret!
