Thanksgiving Fun, Radio Disney and @StJude #ThanksandGiving
Hello Readers and Radio Disney Listeners,
I was so thrilled to be on “Let’s Chat” Radio Disney’s public affairs show for the Bay Area this morning talking about Thanksgiving Fun, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and their Thanks and Giving Campaign.
So let’s talk turkey , as in “Turkey Categories” a great game that can be played across generations. This game, along with instructions on how to make this adorable faux apple pie (Thanks to One Charming Party) and instruction for creating a gratitude chain can be found in my Mommy on a Shoestring column for the Sun-Times media.

And make your own Pumpkin Pie Playdough by following this recipe. Be sure to put the play dough out on a table with cookie cutters, rolling pins and other safe cooking utesils.
The other topic we discussed on radio Disney is St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As many of you may know, I visited St Jude and was blown away but the sheer magnitude of all they do to make the lives of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases better. St Jude provides comprehensive care to all its patients and that extends to the patients’ families. Best of all, no one pays a bill at St Jude, the hospital and its many important programs are funded through donations. As a Mommy on a Shoestring, I am always looking for ways to make my resources do double duty. One way you can do that is by taking part of the St Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign. You can visit one of their 60 corporate partners to help raise funds for the hospital by purchasing speciality products whose proceeds are earmarked for St Jude. You can also visit the St Jude Gift Shop. 100% of the proceeds from every purchase goes to the hospital and the store offers a ton of cute items.
For example, I love the vintage St Jude baseball cap that is on $12. It’s cute, vintage and I love the fact that 100% of the $12 will go to St Jude. As I mentioned on Radio Disney, this season Disney star Olivia Holt has designed a super sweet t-shirt (and yes, it is only $10) finally, JRB is a fan of Sam and Kat on Nickelodeon and although a necklace doesn’t work for him, I ordered this cute pendant designed by Jeanette “Sam” McCurdy so I can up my “hip mom” rating. So make your dollars do double duty and do good while buying cute goods! Finally be sure to help us raise awareness on #thanksandgivingday which is this monday (November 25). So Sign up (before Monday) at Thunderclap, a crowd-speaking platform, which is organizing a mass tweet and Facebook post on Monday. And be sure to follow @stjude on twitter and follow along at #thanksandgivingday.
